About No Work No Eat

H.L. Goode has spent more than 40 years working across agriculture, livestock and the equine industry. His experience includes 40 years operating a farrier business, 10 years as an equine dentist, eight years breeding horses, five years operating a boarding barn and time as a feed store owner. Each chapter has shaped his approach to animal care, sound management and doing things the right way.

In 2017, H.L. purchased 50 acres in Chipley, Florida, and began building a place where he could pursue the next chapter of his agricultural life. Raising cattle had long been on his bucket list. When he was introduced to Red Devons, he was drawn not only to the breed itself, but to the emphasis placed on protecting the purity and integrity of its genetics.

Today, H.L. is developing Red Devon seedstock with a focus on sound genetics, responsible pasture management and a healthier approach to beef production. For him, healthy soil, healthy cattle and healthy people are all connected. The goal behind No Work No Eat is simple: raise quality cattle while leaving the land better than he found it.
